Close-up Magician:
One of my less well-known (albeit fading) talents is performing close-up magic. Not the big stage illusions such as those performed by David Copperfield, but small illusions performed for one or two folks at a time. In the late 1970's, I was performing regularly at the "Stag and Hound" restaurant in Madison, Wisconsin. What was intended as a performance for a few folks at a time grew into a weely extravaganze with 40 or 50 folks packed into the bar at a time. The manager, needless to say, was delighted, but it was a challenge to make things visible to that many people. Here's one of the few surviving photos from that era, the dramatic (?) conclusion of a sleight-of-hand ballet with coins.
